Dead Beat
Parents |
|
|
When a
single parent is ordered by the court to pay child
support for his/her child and ignores the order by
paying late or not paying at all. Once the court issues
a writ of non-payment or an arrest warrant for failure
to pay child support, Crime Stoppers will take tips on
the locations of dead beat parents. Crime Stoppers will
forward this information to the appropriate law
enforcement agency for proper action. If an arrest is
made based on the tip, Crime Stoppers will pay a reward
of $200 to the tipster.

Gun
Stoppers |
|
|
Crime
Stoppers and Broward County Sheriff's Office introduced Gun Stoppers. The
goal of the program is to remove illegal weapons from
Broward County, before they can be used. Crime Stoppers
will pay $100 for the recovery of an illegal weapon
and upto $1000 for the arrest of a person for possession of
the illegal gun in a public place. Public place is defined
as a: store, mall, parking lot or any place the public
is invited to use or shop. This is not a gun buy back
program; the purpose of the program is to reduce the
prevalence of firearms carried illegally in Broward
County.

Illegal
Dumping |
|
|
Illegal
dumping is the unlawful disposal of trash in an area not
designated for such materials. Illegal dumping occurs in
all areas of Broward County and is done by citizens as
well as businesses. "No dumping" signs will be posted
throughout Unincorporated Broward County and the City of
Fort Lauderdale. These signs will be posted at illegal
dump sites and other areas to discourage illegal dumpers
and to publicize the reward system. Florida had the
following statute and code to punish illegal dumpers.
People who are caught illegally dumping are subject to
fines and imprisonment.

Kids
Saver Fingerprinting |
|
|
In 2003 the
board of directors purchased two computer systems and
the software that allows the program to fingerprint and
photograph children and the elderly. This program is
made available to any community event in which children
will be present. The program is computer generated which
means there is no messy black ink. The photos are color
and tips are provided should your child ever go missing.
